Positive Leisure Activities

By simply filling out an application form, Triple P.L.A.Y. can help financially with:

1. Registration Fees
2. Equipment Costs
3. Some Transportation

for any organized activity in the Kenora area.

Application forms can be found on this website, at the Kenora Recreation Centre, at the Keewatin Memorial Arena, at the Kenora and Keewatin Libraries, at local schools, at the Minto Parent Child Resource Centre, and at the Ontario Works Office.

Equipment Lending Program

Triple P.L.A.Y. has an excellent Equipment Lending Program! We have a room in the Keewatin Memorial Arena filled with new and used equipment that children and youth can borrow; and when they grow out of it, or when they aren’t using it any more, they give it back so that other children can benefit from it too.

Triple P.L.A.Y. has equipment for Hockey, Figure Skating, Skiing, Soccer, Football, Swimming, Karate, and much much more!

No application for equipment is required. You must call the Triple P.L.A.Y. Coordinator ((807) 466-2785 and they will assess if there is a need. The Triple P.L.A.Y. Coordinator will then make an appointment to meet with you to try on equipment!

Donations of Equipment can be dropped off in the Triple P.L.A.Y. box at the Keewatin Memorial Arena.

One-Time-Events

Triple P.L.A.Y. holds SUPER FUN One-Time-Events for all children in the city of Kenora and surrounding area! Triple P.L.A.Y. establishes partnerships with local volunteers to put on special activities that give children experiences they may not get otherwise.

• ICE FISHING DAY (usually in February)
  What better way to experience our icy lake than to dig a hole in it? Triple P.L.A.Y. partners up with local volunteers to take children out on the ice to go fishing. If you don’t Freeze, and you catch Fish, it’s Fantastic!
• HORSING AROUND DAY! (usually in May)
  Triple P.L.A.Y. partners up with various Equine facilities to let children experience taking care of and riding horses. It’s usually Muddy, it’s usually Messy, it’s always Marvelous!
• TAKE-A-KID FISHING DAY! (usually in June)
  Every Summer Triple P.L.A.Y. puts on a Take-A-Kid Fishing Day! Triple P.L.A.Y. organizes volunteers to take children out for a day on Lake of the Woods, and then come back for a Family B.B.Q! Get ready for a day of Floating, Fishing, and FUN!
• CAMP STEPHEN’S (usually in June)
  Triple P.L.A.Y. partners up with Camp Stephen’s to give children the opportunity to spend a weekend at Camp Stephen’s in the summer! A perfect mix of swimming, rock climbing, kayaking, and relaxing make for an excellent opportunity to make friends and gain leadership skills!
• CIRCUS CAMP (usually in November)
  Triple P.L.A.Y. partners up with Circus Camp to let children test their talents at circus performance! There’s Hoola-Hoops, Plate Spinning, and Stilt Walking…but not all at once!
• THE HOLIDAY TRAIN (usually in December)
  Woot! Woot! Triple P.L.A.Y. partners up with the Canadian Pacific Railroad to enhance the Holiday Train experience! After the great music show, kids who have applied get to go for a RIDE on the Holiday Train! It’s a GREAT way to ring in the Holiday Season!

These One-Time-Events are always free of charge, and food is available.  To see what dates these events are being held, keep your eye on our Events Calendar! Keep in mind to apply early as space is limited, and spots can run out.
